This week's snippet is from my first Regency novel,
No Job For a Woman
(now available online for the special price of $2.99)
“Let me recap.” Julian leaned forward and rested his elbows on his
knees, and propped his chin on his steepled fingers. "You say your sister’s
turned Ned Granger down twice, and now he threatens to do something if she
doesn’t change her mind?”
“In a word, yes.”
“And suddenly the cooperative Brandon has turned unhelpful?”
“I wouldn’t say so precisely.”
“Then what would you say.”
“Darn it man,” Freddie stormed, “I’m telling you I can’t put my
finger on it!” He spun round challenge in his eyes then stopped, his mouth
falling open. “Fear! The man’s afraid of something.”

I know I've read snippets of this book before, but I wonder who Brandon is and why his help is needed. And why do Julian and Freddie want Freddie's sister to stop turning Julian down? Guess I'll just have to read the book to find out! Thanks for sharing.
Ned is definitely persistent but not the kind of guy she should say yes too, definitely. Why the hell does he think he is going to achieve by going around scaring people?
Hmmm... I wonder if Brandon is afraid of Ned Granger... Intriguing snippet!
:-) Thanks for coming by Patty.
LOL Linda, there are just some folk who seem to think if they want something they're entitled regardless of what others say :-) Thanks for coming by.
:-) Glad you enjoyed it PT. And yes, he's got cause to be afraid.
Intriguing snippet. Now he has something to work with.
:-) Thank you Kate.
There's nothing like being asked logical questions when you're frustrated/panicked. Poor Freddie seems like she's in knots!
I hope Julian is a patient man. :D
It sounds as though Ned Granger is a man to avoid, not hook your sister to for life.
Now to find out who or what is causing him to fear.
I've known a Ned or two, come to think of it...
What does he fear? I'm intrigued!!
LOL Sarah, not only patient, but a loyal friend. Thanks for coming by.
You are so right Gem, but her brother and friend are trying to prevent that happening.
The what takes a while to come to light, Elaine, thanks for coming by.
