Today I am sharing another snippet from my short Valentine story,
Queen of Diamonds,
which is part of a fifteen author
Astraea Press Anthology
After four months of denying it, she still risked losing her heart to a man she hardly knew. Where was the logic in that?
Nor was there any logic in the way the rest of the week flew by. Or that the usual mishaps when working with children never occurred. In fact they all went so smoothly, by Friday morning Sybil was a nervous wreck.
She woke to a dark pre-dawn sky heavy with the promise of rain and a coffee machine on the blink. Not to be denied her morning dose of caffeine, she set the kettle on the hob and prayed it wasn’t a premonition of things to come, and raced upstairs to take a shower.

At least she is starting to be true to her feelings. Maybe she shouldn't mix nervousness and coffee.
I feel her conflict and confusion in this line..."Where was the logic in that?"
I always get nervous when things go too well. Nice snippet! Loved the story.
I love this line: "In fact they all went so smoothly, by Friday morning Sybil was a nervous wreck."
I know that feeling SO well! :D
It's amazing how unnerving it can be when everything goes right. You just KNOW that it's leading to a disaster...
I'm with everyone else - I feel catastrophe building, just because things are going so well. Excellent excerpt!
Yep, something bad must be coming. Now what could it be?
