SAVE A TURKEY: GOBBLE A BOOK BLOG HOP TOUR (NOV 14-21)

SAVE A TURKEY:   GOBBLE A BOOK  BLOG HOP TOUR (NOV 14-21)

The nearest we have in Britain to the American Thanksgiving holiday is the Harvest Festival.  Indeed, according to Wikipedia, the modern day thanksgiving is a combination of the Native American traditions and the European, mainly English festival of the Harvest Festival, which in itself can be traced as far back as pagan times.

Did you know?

That according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, more than 45 million turkeys are cooked and eaten in the U.S. at Thanksgiving—that's one sixth of all turkeys sold in the U.S. each year.

Did you know?

President George Washington issued the first national Thanksgiving Day Proclamation in the year 1789 and again in 1795.

Did you know?

President Franklin D. Roosevelt restored Thursday before last of November as Thanksgiving Day in the year 1939. He did so to make the Christmas shopping season longer and stimulate the economy of the state.

Did you know?

Congress passed an official proclamation in 1941 and declared that now onwards Thanksgiving will be observed as a legal holiday on the fourth Thursday of November every year.

Well my current novel may not have so much as a wiff of Thanksgiving celebrations in it , but Trudi and Rafe in Duty Calls have both travelled the long road of discovery before things worked out as they should for them both.

Awesome Hop and Giveaway, I love that photo of the turkey with the sign that says - eat chicken - LOL

I can't even imagine seeing over 45 million turkeys but wow thats a lot of birds being eaten. I love turkey. We had a turkey once as a pet and he was funny, he lived about 4 years and it was sad when he died. My husband had even named him "Dinner" as a joke knowing we would never eat him.

Have a Blessed Holiday

Thanks for making your post so full of crazy American Thanksgiving day facts, even though you don't celebrate our specific holiday. Is there a traditional menu for the Harvest Festival? I know turkey is the gold standard for the US Thanksgiving, but I actually wouldn't eat turkey until I was in my 20's. I was a pretty picky eater & wouldn't eat chicken either. The first time I had & liked turkey was when I visited my then boyfriends family in Iowa & they served a wild turkey that they had shot a few days before in their woods. These days I love turkey, but only the white meat. The dark stuff is just too greasy for me.

Thanks for being part of the Gobble hop.
